About the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)To improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans, it is a commitment of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that every state health department have the capacity, commitment, and resources to carry out a comprehensive cardiovascular health promotion, disease prevention and control program. Since 1998, Congress has provided funding for a national, state-based cardiovascular disease prevention program. CDC presently funds 25 states that address these cardiovascular health issues.
