About the American Stroke AssociationThe American Stroke Association is the division of the American Heart Association that is solely focused on reducing disability and death from stroke through research, education, fundraising and advocacy. Major initiatives include:Acute Stroke Treatment ProgramBased on the recommendations developed by the Brain Attack Coalition and its member organizations, this product is the "one-stop-shopping" tool kit for Stroke Center Directors, hospital providers and staff who want to establish a primary Stroke Center. Learn more about the Acute Stroke Treatment Program Operation StrokeThe American Stroke Association's Operation Stroke program focuses on bringing hospitals, healthcare professionals and emergency transport systems professionals together to improve the quality of care for those suffering a stroke. Additionally, Operation Stroke communities help educate the general public on the warning signs and need to dial 911 with the onset of a stroke. With a goal of reaching the top 125 largest cities in the US, Operation Stroke brings communities together to raise awareness and to improve stroke care. Get With the Guidelines-StrokeThis is the American Stroke Association's process for continuous quality improvement of acute stroke treatment and ischemic stroke prevention. This program works by identifying hospital champions to lead, develop and mobilize teams to implement treatment and prevention guidelines for ischemic stroke patients. Upon successful pilot completion, Get With The Guidelines-Stroke will be available later this year.
